The years spent in China were some of the most memorable years of Nelson's career. As many have learned before him, Nelson discovered that through teaching the craft to those young and sincere about learning, he found further refinement and a greater understanding of jewelry-making.

Eager to be with his family, Nelson returned to Vancouver in 1999 to found New Era Goldsmith. Like each of Nelson's pieces, New Era is an amalgamation of new ideas and 40 years of passion for the craft and tradition. With this venture, Nelson has rebuilt his legacy on his own terms. With his work and with these words, he finally has the chance to tell the story which he had left untold.
