A Leap of Faith

In the winter of 1981, Nelson moved his family across the Pacific to Vancouver. He was recruited by an established retail jeweler, with the promise of a good position in the company and a creative work environment. Much to his chagrin, Nelson worked the majority of a year performing basic repairs and churning out low-end jewelry - a complete contrast to his years of dedication to high quality goldsmithing. A frustrated Nelson left his employer and, alongside a partner, formed Sparkle Jewellers in 1983. It was a return to the familiar arena of high-end custom work for Nelson, and, unsurprisingly, he thrived there.
